The government will recruit 2,000 more doctors, mainly to strengthen healthcare services in rural areas, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.
This recruitment will be in addition to the ongoing process of hiring 3,493 doctors through the Public Service Commission (PSC), she told the media at the Foreign Service Academy today after a meeting of the advisers’ council.
Rizwana said the recruitment of 3,493 doctors is already underway through PSC. Alongside this, the government has decided to appoint 2,000 more doctors to address the healthcare gap in rural areas.
She emphasised that people in rural communities are not receiving adequate healthcare services, and the additional recruitment aims to ensure that health services reach them.
